Spiritual Direction

Deepening intimacy with God and becoming more aware of His transforming presence

What is Spiritual direction?

Spiritual direction is discerning God's movement and listening to His voice alongside another, growing in attentiveness and awareness of God in all of life (from the mundane to the mysterious), and creating space to name and respond to the Holy Spirit's invitations.

As spiritual directors, we listen. We listen to you, and we listen to the Holy Spirit alongside you. We pay attention to the movements of God as you share from your life. We cultivate safe, sacred space for that to happen. And we pray with and for you.

We believe that God is always speaking to us, and spiritual direction can help us to attend to His voice.

Ignatian Exercises

A retreat in daily life

The Ignatian Exercises are a deeply transformative journey, used for centuries by followers of Jesus who desire to walk more closely with Him. It’s a nine-month commitment to daily prayer and scripture reading with twice-a-month spiritual direction, and it will change your life. If you’re looking for a way to encounter Jesus and His heart in new ways, then the Ignatian Exercises are for you.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

The Ignatian Exercises include daily prayer and scripture meditations as well as praying the daily Examen. The Exercises follow themes, beginning with several weeks on our belovedness in Christ, then moving on to honestly processing sin in ourselves and in the world. Then, the Exercises focus on following Jesus through His life, His passion and death, and His resurrection.

In addition to the daily prayer and scripture meditations, you’ll also meet every other week for one hour of spiritual direction, where you will have the freedom to process and notice what the Holy Spirit is doing within you as you engage the Ignatian Exercises. Both Bryan Hehr and Lauri Dennis are available to accompany you as a spiritual director.

COST:

$1400/person for the full nine-month experience, including materials. Payment plans are available.

WHEN THE IGNATIAN EXERCISES BEGIN:

For individuals interested in the Exercises, you can start anytime—Bryan is able to accompany you through them whenever you’d like to begin. Many people like to start in the fall, so that the Exercises end with the theme of the resurrection around Easter, but there is no wrong time to start!

Married couples: We have an Ignatian experience just for you! Click here to learn more about walking through the Ignatian Exercises alongside your spouse.

Lectio divina is a sacred way of engaging and praying scripture that followers of Jesus have been doing since the 4th century.
