Our Mission

Our mission and purpose is to walk alongside individuals and communities with the aim of growing in the fullness of Christ. Our hope is that we help you to curate your heart in order that you may experience God’s fullness and be transformed into the image of Christ.

We do that through offering spiritual direction to individuals and groups, teaching on spiritual formation, leading retreats, investing in leadership teams and married couples, and providing resources that assist in discovering an ever-increasing awareness of God's love and presence.

We come alongside leaders

  • by helping them develop and deepen their prayer lives,

  • by helping them discern the voice of God in their own lives and for those to whom they are ministering,

  • and by exploring ways to allow their intimacy with Jesus to inform their leadership.

We come alongside teams

  • by assessing their health,

  • by helping them to discern where God might be leading them,

  • and by cultivating a formational culture.

We come alongside couples

  • by helping them develop spiritual intimacy within their marriage,

  • by giving them tools for accompanying one another in journeying with Christ,

  • and by helping them engage practices and rhythms that bring life.

We named our ministry CURATE because we believe we become like what we behold, as 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 tells us. In a world of immense distraction and pressure, we need to curate our hearts, because our hearts are where the Spirit of God dwells.

What We Believe

The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy universal and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Meet our Team

We’re Bryan and Rachel Hehr, the founders of CURATE.

Spiritual formation and the contemplative stream of the church have been a large part of our story. We met at Fuller Theological Seminary’s Colorado Springs campus, while Rachel was on Young Life staff and Bryan was working for the Christian and Missionary Alliance, and where we received an education that integrated theology with a deep, abiding life in Jesus.

After getting married, we made our way to Auburn, CA, where Bryan served as a pastor to a local church. We had the unique privilege of attending spiritual direction training together through Sustainable Faith. Sitting with others in the sacred space of spiritual direction is a place where we both come alive, and we consider it an honor to accompany others as they share the experience of faith.

We launched CURATE Ministries in 2018 while still in California. Both of us have a growing heart for ministry leaders, because we’ve been—and continue to serve—in ministry leadership ourselves. Investing in and care for ministry leaders and staff teams is at the core of all we do at CURATE.

In 2020, we moved back to Colorado Springs to better support our growing family. We now have two young daughters, both miracles after a long season of infertility. Those years helped us to learn (and re-learn) how beautiful it can be to cultivate spiritual friendship with each other, which gave us a heart for spiritual formation in marriage.

We’d love to get to know you! If you’re ever in Colorado Springs, or you’d like to connect virtually, we’d love to meet up for a cup of coffee. Send us a message below!

Hey, there! I’m Lauri Dennis, a Spiritual Director, Supervisor, and Ignatian pilgrim.

Before becoming a certified spiritual director through Sustainable Faith, I journeyed with missionaries, special needs students, and at-risk adults in my career and through volunteering. My heart is for those on ‘the fringes’ to know and embrace their identity as the Beloved. I have been miraculously healed of various medical calamities shaping my faith and ideas of the Divine.

I continue to grow into a gentle, welcoming soul with a joyfully creative and child-like spirit primarily through spiritual practices.  One of my favorite things is walking with those who long to know Abba’s immense love, beauty, and grace more completely.  Listening is a cherished honor and I long to do it with compassion and empathy. My journey through the Ignatian Exercises transformed my life in such a way that I was trained in leading others through them. Some of my favorite times in direction have happened during the short and long versions of the Exercises.  Having also been trained in Supervision of Spiritual Directors, I highly value walking with others in this discipline as well.

My husband, Kenny, and I live in Grand Lake, Colorado. Together we have led worship, small groups, a small mountain church, and participated in prayer ministries in various church and ministry settings throughout our 30-year marriage. I am blessed with 3 amazing step sons, 2 beautiful daughters-in-law and 2 grandchildren. I enjoy spending time in God’s creation, time with others, reading, singing, painting and dancing!

I offer spiritual direction, lead fellow pilgrims through the Ignatian Exercises, and offer supervision to fellow spiritual directors.
